access to university researchers (MRdi)
Need more resources to meet your company’s research
and development needs? MRDI can help!
The University of Tennessee Manufacturing Research and Development
Institute (MRDI) is a joint venture of the university’s College
of Engineering (COE) and the Institute for Public Service (IPS)
and is managed by the Center for Industrial Services (CIS). The
purpose of this partnership is to bring to manufacturers some of
the most sophisticated engineering research and development resources
in the country.
The UT IPS Mission
To serve Tennesseans
by linking university expertise with community and workplace needs
to improve the quality of life.
MRDI brings together faculty, students, and several advanced research
centers to help manufacturers tackle a variety of complex engineering
problems. MRDI clients get access to engineering expertise that they do
not have on staff or cannot afford. Companies with an ongoing relationship
with MRDI can take advantage of the university’s research
and development capabilities to avoid being left behind by changing
technologies.
Facilities available for MRDI projects
The
most notable facility available for MRDI research is the Science
and Engineering Research Facility. Located on the Knoxville
campus, this versatile research center houses projects from various
departments within
the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Engineering.
