EMS/ISO 14001:2004 Implementation

In many industries, especially electronics, automotive, and defense sectors, it is almost impossible to do business without a written environmental management system (EMS).Some industries have developed their own EMS expectations, while in others, ISO 14001 registration is the benchmark . In this course, you will learn about the ISO 14001:2004 standard in detail, including the tools and techniques you need to develop an ISO-compatible EMS of your own.

EMS/ISO 14001:2004 Internal Auditor

This interactive course is designed for those involved with ISO 14001:2004 internal auditing. Internal auditing is one of the first steps to maintaining and improving your environmental management system, before and after registration. Take advantage of this course to maintain your internal audit team’s skills or train new talent for your audit pool. Topics include
  • Environmental Management System (EMS) Audits—internal auditor qualification, communication skills, handling conflicts, auditing do’s and don’ts, planning and preparation for audits, performing audits, auditor maintenance
  • EMS Corrective Action—Audit follow-up, getting to root causes of non-conformance issues, verifying corrective action, and satisfying your registrar
  • EMS Auditing Exercises—Practice newly acquired skills in a non-threatening environment; includes mock drills and exercises designed to reinforce understanding of standard and auditing techniques
  • Understanding ISO 14001:2004 EMS Standard—A review of the requirements, including interpretations of difficult to understand clauses and getting to really “know” what the standard says

Hazardous Waste Management/RCRA Compliance

If your facility generates solid and hazardous waste, this workshop will give you the information you need to comply with generation requirements (from waste identification, onsite management to pre-transport and shipping), RCRA, the Tennessee Solid Waste Management regulations, and waste reduction planning requirements.
